A Beginner's Mind - Shoshin concept

The term "beginner's mind," also called "Shoshin," originates from Zen Buddhism. It describes an attitude or mindset that is open, curious, and free from prejudices, even as you continue to deepen your expertise in a field or practice with advancing experience.

We could also describe this as baby consciousness, because babies and toddlers perceive everything with open senses and learn significantly faster than adults. Who knows, perhaps this even activates epigenetic rejuvenation programs 😉

What does it mean to have a beginner's mind?

Having a beginner's mind means approaching the world with the wonder and open-mindedness of a beginner, regardless of how much knowledge or experience you already possess. You let go of preconceived notions and view every life situation and experience as a fresh opportunity to learn something new.

The Benefits of Beginner's Mind

This mindset increases your mental flexibility, improves your ability to discover new possibilities, and prevents routine, rigid, or complacent thinking.
